WOMEN TAKING THE HELM

InterMarine's exclusive seminar is all about teaching women basic boating skills and prepares them for any situation on the water.   

Classes are taught by our licensed captains Brad Heil and Sarah Gierden and to ensure your learning, we have created a small group of no more than 15 people. This way, everyone will have the opportunity to practice.

Our 6-hour classes are divided into two parts: Starting with a theoretical session and then we move on to a practical part. 

It is not just about how to drive a boat; it is about the importance of learning how to navigate in case of an emergency. 

In a hands-on class led by our licensed captains Brad Heil and Sarah Gierden, you will be ready to take the helm in one day.

In Women taking the helm you will learn all the necessary techniques to support the captain during navigation. Especially, how to act in case of an emergency.

Some of the topics that we will discuss during this seminar are:

  • How to use a VHF radio
  • Rules of the road
  • Start and stop the boat
  • Boat operation and handling
  • Dock the boat safely
  • Tying lines
  • Optional for each woman: docking on a T (touch and go)
