Once a year, InterMarine and a small group of customers go on a glorious 10-day adventure to the Bahamas. We call these trips our Grand Escapade. Every year we visit a different part of the Bahamas. This year, we're going to the Exumas.
The Exumas are an archipelago of 365 cays and islands, beginning just 35 miles southeast of Nassau (source: Bahamas.com), divided into three main areas. Whether you are looking for luxurious accommodations or to become one with nature, these islands are truly a hidden treasure with their pristine beaches, crystal clear waters, and luxurious accommodations.
The Exumas islands also offer a vast array of phenomenal activities that will no doubt send you home with amazing memories. Here are some of our favorites.
Swimming with the Pigs:
You can't talk about Exuma without talking about the pigs. No one knows how they got there, but there they are! The pigs come up to every docked boat looking for treats. They're so popular there is even a film about them! Learn more about the swimming pigs
Luxurious spaces in Highbourne:
Highbourne is a tiny, private island featuring 8 natural beaches and 8 luxury rental cottages. These cottages are simply breathtaking, not only for their upscale interiors but for the incredible oceanfront views complete with sublime sunsets. Read more here.
Thunderball Grotto:
Seriously one of the coolest places you will ever visit. Site of the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball, this place really is out of this world. A wonderful ecosystem of fish, turtles, and coral await under the cover of a sun-light cave. See it for yourself!
