New Year Boater Resolutions

Every new year is filled with the promise of a fresh new start; the chance to accomplish something positive in our lives. Most of the time, the resolution requires us to exercise a great amount of discipline and restraint. However, at InterMarine we think it’s just as important to fit in some fun too, so we came up with a list of Boater Resolutions for the New Year.
1. Take a boating course
You just bought your first new boat... now what?? Learning to safely operate your boat and navigate the waterways is of the utmost importance for every new and seasoned boater. In fact, anyone born on or after January 1, 1988, who will be operating a boat in Florida waters* is required by law to complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Florida Boating Safety ID Card. After all, a boat is a large moving object... with no brakes! It never hurts to brush up on your knowledge of boating laws and safety practices. This website can help get you started getting your Florida Boating Safety ID Card.
2. Get a new boat
If your boat got two-foot-itis (read: it is too small), has seen better days, or - heaven forbid- you don't have a boat, now is the time to buy yourself a new boat! The winter/spring boat show season in Florida has begun. There are still quite a few 2018 leftovers floating around. New 2019 boat models are here. All this translates to new boat and used boat sales and boat savings for boat buyers. There is so much to choose from! Check out our list of "Best Of" boat models from a few weeks ago. Then contact InterMarine boat sales team for a personalized boat shopping experience. We'll help you buy the right boat for you and your family.
3. Level up your boat
You already love your boat? That's great! Let's make your boat even better with a few upgrades you are going to love. Back in December, we featured a list of awesome gifts for boaters. There you will find fantastic ideas for boat upgrades like underwater lights by Ocean LED, stainless steel anchors by Lewmar (aka boat jewelry), and the latest Garmin electronics.
4. Stay on top of your boat maintenance
Proper boat maintenance is absolutely essential to ensure that your new or used boat stays in tip-top shape for many years to come. Few things are worse than being ready and excited to go out on the boat... but the boat doesn't start. Don't let your boat be out for the count! Here's an idea: book all your service appointments for the year now. It will save you tons of time and stress later, guaranteed! Call us at the number below or schedule your appointment online.
5. Attend a specific number of Escapades
InterMarine Escapades embody what the Boating Lifestyle is all about. We have monthly boating trips and boating events planned out for the year- everything from sandbar raft-ups to happy hour get-togethers to our exceptional 10-day Grand Escapades (learn more about the Escapades boating trips and see the image galleries here). Do not miss another wonderful boating adventure this year! Plan ahead and stick to your resolution. Special note for Dads: The Father's Day Escapade to Bimini is a special treat, and it books up fast! Click here to view the new calendar!
6. Make an Escapade photo book
If you are a longtime InterMarine customer and have attended many of our Escapades, it would be a wonderful idea to make a beautiful photo book to document and show off your amazing photos! InterMarine Escapades are the backdrop of many priceless family memories. What a wonderful family heirloom to keep around! There are many services, like this one, where you can order a professional-looking photo book.
We feel new year resolutions are essential to growth. Here's to a productive and successful 2019 when you get to boat a lot more!
